Our ELDORADO TAIRONA necklace is handcrafted by Colombian artisans with a special affinity for pre-Columbian cultures, their symbolism, and artistry. The form of this pendant is inspired by pre-Columbian nose rings, more specifically by the Tairona civilization, that thrived in ancient Colombia. Nose rings are a recurrent shape in many of our pre-Columbian inspired pieces with variations, and they were ornaments symbolizing status and kinship among other meanings. Inspiration for this necklace comes directly from Tairona nose ring motifs at the Museum of Gold in Bogota, Colombia, home to the world's largest collection of pre-Columbian goldwork. This piece is crafted in 24K gold-plated pewter with a protective cataphoretic lacquer finish for higher durability and radiance.
