Handmade by skilled Colombian artisans, our YARA necklace features a graceful, handwoven collar crafted from 999 fine silver threads. Its high purity makes it softer and more delicate than sterling silver. The pendant is crafted from tagua (vegetable ivory), a rock-hard seed from a palm tree endemic to the pacific coast of South America. This exceptional material, scientifically named Phytelephas (elephant plant), matures from a liquid state into a solid, highly resilient, and creamy-white substance that is remarkably durable and closely resembles ivory. Its unique qualities allow it to be carved, polished, and dyed. These characteristics make tagua an ideal, sustainable, and ethical substitute for animal ivory. In Colombia, its harvest doesn't harm the trees and stimulates local economies, being used in jewelry, buttons, and ornaments, while also serving as a significant alternative to deforestation for farming.

 CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Avoid direct contact with perfume and/or body lotion. Avoid contact with water (shower, pool, beach, etc.). This product is crafted from silver, which naturally oxidizes over time when exposed to air. Although 999 fine silver tarnishes slower than 925 sterling silver, both will still darken over time. To restore its original shine, simply polish the piece from time to time using the provided polishing cloth (do not wash the cloth as it works better unwashed). Do not use any cleaning solutions. To minimize oxidation when not in use, store your product in the complimentary airtight bag and keep it in the accompanying pouch in a dry place.
