LOZANGO NECKLACE - Handmade - Stainless steel - Tagua (vegetable ivory)
Estimated delivery date in Europe (Day/Month): 00/00 - 00/00
Our LOZANGO necklace is handcrafted by experienced Colombian artisans using tagua (vegetable ivory), a rock-hard seed from a palm tree endemic to the pacific coast of South America. This exceptional material, scientifically named Phytelephas (elephant plant), matures from a liquid state into a solid, highly resilient, and creamy-white substance that is remarkably durable and closely resembles ivory. Its unique qualities allow it to be carved into various objects, polished, and dyed. These characteristics make tagua an ideal, sustainable, and ethical substitute to animal ivory. In Colombia, its harvest doesn't harm the trees and stimulates local economies, being used in jewelry, buttons, and ornaments, while also serving as a significant alternative to deforestation for farming. The necklace is finished with a stainless steel chain, adorned with a tagua bead at the end.
