Our SIMIA earrings are handcrafted by Colombian artisans, passionate about pre-Columbian cultures and deeply inspired by nature's beauty. For all animal lovers, why not wear a pair of fun and playful monkeys to your next girls' night? To design them, our artisans drew inspiration from Colombia's extraordinary biodiversity. Colombia is the world's second most biodiverse country after Brazil, and is among the top 5 for primate species, with approximately 40 currently known species. The Museum of Gold in Bogota, Colombia's capital, is home to the world's largest collection of pre-Columbian goldwork, and it also exhibits artifacts with monkey motifs, denoting their importance for pre-Columbian civilizations. These earrings are carefully crafted in 24K gold-plated pewter with a protective cataphoretic lacquer finish for higher durability and a radiant touch.
