Our SERPENTIA earrings are handcrafted by Colombian artisans passionate about pre-Columbian cultures and their artistry. Drawing inspiration from the multifaceted symbolic meaning that snakes or serpents held among pre-Columbian civilizations (related to wisdom, protection, a connection to the underworld, and renewal), the artisans based this design on pre-Columbian artifacts depicting snakes exhibited at the Museum of Gold in Bogota, Colombia's capital, home to the world's largest collection of pre-Columbian goldwork. These earrings are carefully crafted in 24K gold-plated pewter with a protective cataphoretic lacquer finish for higher durability, and elegantly adorned with agate stones.
