Our ELDORADO NARIGUERA necklace is handcrafted by Colombian artisans with a special affinity for pre-Columbian cultures, their symbolism, and artistry. The form of this pendant is inspired by pre-Columbian nose rings, a recurrent shape in many of our pre-Columbian inspired pieces with variations. Nose rings were ornaments for many ancient civilizations, symbolizing status and kinship among other meanings. The name NARIGUERA also means "nose ring" in Spanish. Inspiration for this necklace comes directly from nose ring motifs exhibited at the Museum of Gold in Bogota, Colombia, home to the world's largest collection of pre-Columbian goldwork. This piece was carefully crafted in 24K gold-plated pewter with a protective cataphoretic lacquer finish for higher durability and a luminous touch.
