Our CALIMA earrings are handmade by Colombian jewelers with a deep understanding of pre-Columbian cultures. This elegant pair showcases the beauty and sparkle of faceted agate stones, with the top round shape evoking a Calima chest ornament. The Calima, a pre-Columbian civilization from present-day Colombia, created gold and copper chest ornaments for shamans and leaders to wear during ceremonies as symbols of power and cosmovision. For this design, our artisans drew inspiration from pre-Columbian artifacts at the Museum of Gold in Bogota, Colombia's capital, home to the world's largest collection of pre-Columbian goldwork. These earrings are carefully crafted in 24K gold-plated pewter with a protective cataphoretic lacquer finish for durability and an elegant luminous touch.
